Introduction:

The 20D-HEID-D0 encoder comes with a high-speed counter module and it counts the incoming pulses from the pulse generators, the counters, the limit switches, and the other devices at a high rate of speed. The module is programmed to return counts and frequency to the controller. The PowerFlex 700S Heidenhain encoder board features the system-side power for connecting to the system and it lets the module achieve a data transfer while executing the Logic functions. The PowerFlex 700S 20D-HEID-D0 Heidenhain encoder board features the configuration data for every module and it can reside in a different location than the other Allen-Bradley components.

The PowerFlex 700S 20D-HEID-D0 Heiden encoder board features the Requested Packet Interval protocol. The owner-controller and the module exchange the data at a specific rate defined by a configurable parameter. The initial module configuration sets the Requested Packet Interval protocol, and the users can adjust it as necessary after operation. When configuring the 20D-HEID-D0 encoder, ensure that there is a connection over the EtherNet/IP parameter. The configuration choice is what dictates the data input broadcast over the network. Controllers connected to the PowerFlex drives can listen to the input data through the speed counter module even when the controller does not own the module. When set to the “Listen to Only” connection type, the controller and module will automatically establish communication without the controller having to send the configuration data.
